A special thanks for a glowing review

Just recently, I was browsing through the web and decided to check our Google status. So when I did a search for "fuegokoori", I found that someone named Will had written a very nice review of our first CD, Fire & Ice. Here's the page:

The Classical Guitarist Home Page

I want to thank Will for such great comments and we've added your website to our favorite Links page! And please let me know where I can send you our CD!

All the best to you, Will.

Make Noise for fuegokoori!

After today's meeting with the Manager at Impiana KLCC, I feel good about performing at their Tonka Bean Cafe. The room has a very high ceiling, which makes for a great acoustic. Further, we will be playing on Fridays and Saturdays, so the place should be quite full.

If you know anyone at Impiana KLCC or just want to help us out, please call them and ask them when fuegokoori is going to play there! The final decision has yet to be made, so every effort is very much appreciated!

More very soon!

fuegokoori at the Royal Residence

fuegokoori was priviledged to be asked to perform at the residence of the Princess of Perak, whose husband is the owner of Impiana Hotels in Malaysia. We performed a couple of selections from our repertoire as a special presentation of the Chopin Society of Kuala Lumpur and their annual Piano Competition.

Once we receive the video of the afternoon's concert, we will be posting a selection on our YouTube Page for everyone to see.

It was a beautiful afternoon, we are very thankful to have the opportunity. Thank you to the Princess and her husband, Dato Seri Farouk, Mme Panovska and Esther for making it all possible!

fuegokoori is on YouTube

Hi everyone,

In case you didn't make it to our performance at No Black Tie last month, here is a way to see us: we have uploaded a few selections of that evening onto our page on YouTube, so please do check it out! It's not formal, as it is a jazz club, and the sound has a bit of background noise, but we hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Hope to see you soon!

Our performance at No Black Tie was a great success, and we were blessed with a wonderful audience. We are planning our next performance there soon, and we'll announce it here as soon as it's confirmed.

Thanks again to Evelyn Hii for having us, we are very grateful for the chance and can't wait to be back there!

confirmed at No Black Tie

It's confirmed now, fuegokoori is appearing at No Black Tie on Wednesday, July 2nd! Our performance will start around 9pm and should be finished by 11pm, unless we have lots of encores to play!

No Black Tie, run by Evelyn Hii, is a popular Jazz club in Kuala Lumpur, and is one of the rare clubs that has a great room - all wood - for the best acoustic sound. They have loads of events year-round; ours is a special event. Thanks Evelyn!

Here's the program:

  • Suite for cello solo -  by Gaspar Cassado
  • Spanish Suite  -  by Joaquin Nin
  • Serenade op. 127  -  by Mauro Giuliani
  • La Vida Breve  -  by Manuel de Falla
  • Chiquilin de Bachin  -  by Astor Piazzolla
  • Tango for guitar solo
  • Cantabile  -  by Niccolo Paganini
  • Cafe 1930 & Nightclub 1960  -  by Astor Piazzolla

plus a few surprise encores!

fuegokoori at No Black Tie

Hi everyone! It's been a crazy few months with us, as my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Ethan Young-Jae Choi! We are so happy and blessed to have him, he's really a little angel :)

I've just gotten word that we will be performing at No Black Tie in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 2nd of July, but I still need to confirm this.

No further word on the CD release date, but please keep checking back. I am working on staying here in Asia for a while longer, so fuegokoori can get settled as well. As it is now, I've moved 4 times in the last 4 years...and I'd do it again in a second! :)

Welcome to fuegokoori!

Hi everyone, our aim with this blog is to keep all of you informed as to what is happening with fuegokoori.  So without further ado...

As of the latest news, our next CD, fuegokoori: Beneath the Surface will take a bit longer still. We have taken a bit of time with this because part of the proceeds from the CD will go to benefit Helft uns helfen, the organization for which we performed yearly concerts during the time I was living in Konstanz, Germany. The CD is actually a compilation of some the best tracks from two concerts we gave in May and July of 2005, including 3 works for cello and guitar ensemble!

Stay tuned for the release date, we hope to have it ready by June or July of this year. All good things take time right?
